I’m Speaking at SharePoint Saturday!

Posted by on April 23, 2013 at 9:00 pm.

It’s been far too long since I’ve posted, but now’s a good a time as any. I’m going to be speaking at both SharePoint Saturday Boston this Saturday (4/27) and also SharePoint Saturday Baltimore again this year (5/18).

Details on both are below. I know SPS Boston is already sold old (tickets went quick!) but I’ll make my slides and demo available after the event.

SharePoint Saturday Baltimore Slides

Posted by on May 15, 2012 at 11:36 am.

I just got back from SharePoint Saturday Baltimore this past weekend, what a great crowd! Really awesome speakers and a really nice pool of folks from all over the area. Looking forward to doing it again next year!

This year I spoke about Driving User Adoption with Custom SharePoint Branding… one of my favorite topics. I co-presented with my awesome coworker Stacy Czerw and we got a pretty great response. I’ve uploaded my slide deck to SlideShare.net (full link here) and it is also available for download below.

If you attended my presentation, feel free to email me with questions! You can reach me at james@jsturges.com – I’m always happy to help in the community.

Boston Area SharePoint User Group October 21, 2010

Posted by on September 27, 2010 at 4:23 pm.

Had an awesome time at SharePoint Saturday Boston at Microsoft’s offices in Waltham, MA this past weekend. I learned a lot about branding, internal and external site design, social and community features, and met a lot of great people! I especially enjoyed Jornata CEO Scott Jamison‘s discussion on the importance of Governance (@sjam). In short, you can built the best infrastructure possible but without good “rules of the road” get ready for 7 car pileups. Jeff Willinger (@jwillie) from Rightpoint Consulting in Chicago also had a great talk on the benefits of social collaboration elements in SharePoint 2010.

There’s another event coming up soon for SharePoint users in the greater Boston area on October 21, 2010. The Boston Area SharePoint User Group is meeting with what should be a great “Ask the Experts” session and there are limited spaces left. Check out the event details at baspug102110.eventbrite.com and reserve your spot today. Best of all, it’s free! The event will go from 5:45pm to 8:30pm and feature presentations from:

During this meeting, the BASPUG will be teaming up with SharePoint Technology Conference (SPTechCon) at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MA. Check out baspug102110.eventbrite.com for more info on the event. See you there!
